Ingredients
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml warm milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter (softened)
For brushing:
- 1 egg yolk + 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
1. Activate the yeast
In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Prepare the dough
Add flour, salt, egg, and softened butter. Mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead
Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
4. First rise
Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
5. Shape
Divide into equal balls and place them in a baking tray close to each other.
6. Second rise
Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
7. Bake
Brush with egg mixture and bake at 180°C for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
Tips for perfect softness
- Use warm milk, not hot
- Knead well to develop gluten
- Do not skip rising time
