๐Ÿฅ› Creamy Custard Doughnuts (Easy Recipe)

๐Ÿงพ Ingredients

For the doughnuts:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • Oil for frying

For the custard filling:

  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For topping:

  • Powdered sugar (or granulated sugar)

1️⃣ Make the dough

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Rest 5–10 minutes.
  2. Add egg, melted butter, salt, and flour.
  3. Knead until soft and smooth (8–10 minutes).
  4. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.

2️⃣ Shape & fry

  1. Roll dough to 1.5 cm thickness.
  2. Cut into circles.
  3. Rest 20 minutes.
  4. Fry in medium-hot oil until golden (about 1–2 minutes per side).
  5. Drain on paper towels.

3️⃣ Make the custard

  1. Heat milk with half the sugar.
  2. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, cornstarch, and remaining sugar.
  3. Slowly pour hot milk into the egg mixture.
  4. Return to heat, stir until thick.
  5. Remove from heat, add butter & vanilla.
  6. Cool completely.

4️⃣ Fill & serve

  1. Pipe custard into cooled doughnuts.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar.
