The combination of melted cheese and perfectly baked pasta makes it impossible to stop at just one serving. Whether served as a main dish or a side, this baked mac and cheese will quickly become one of your favorite homemade recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk (warm)
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese (for stretch and topping)
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta:
Boil the macaroni in salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. Make the cheese sauce:
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir constantly for 1–2 minutes. Slowly pour in the warm milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens.

  3. Add the cheese:
Lower the heat and add cheddar and parmesan cheese. Stir until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  4. Combine pasta and sauce:
Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.

  5. Bake:
Transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.

  6. Serve:
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Tips:

  • Use a mix of cheeses for richer flavor.
  • Add cooked chicken or beef for a protein boost.
  • For extra crunch, sprinkle breadcrumbs before baking.
