Chocolate & Vanilla Custard Dessert
Ingredients
Chocolate Cake Base & Top
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup oil
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
Vanilla Custard Cream
- 3 cups milk
- ¾ cup sugar
- 4 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tbsp butter
For Topping
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
1️⃣ Chocolate Cake
- Whisk eggs and sugar until light.
- Add milk, oil, and vanilla.
- Mix in flour, cocoa, and baking powder.
- Pour into a lined rectangular pan.
- Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 20 minutes.
- Let cool, then carefully slice the cake horizontally into two layers.
2️⃣ Vanilla Custard
- In a saucepan, mix milk, sugar, cornstarch, and flour.
- Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until thick.
- Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla.
- Let it cool slightly (still warm).
3️⃣ Assemble
- Place one chocolate cake layer in the pan.
- Pour all the warm custard over it and smooth.
- Place the second chocolate layer on top.
- Refrigerate at least 4 hours (overnight is best).
4️⃣ Finish
- Dust generously with powdered sugar
- Slice with a hot knife for clean cuts ✨
💡 Tip:
For extra richness, you can add ½ cup whipped cream to the custard after it cools slightly.
