Old-Time Oven Peach Cobbler is a classic, comforting dessert with a buttery, golden crust and sweet, juicy peaches. This recipe is simple, just like grandma used to make!
Ingredients
For the Peaches:
- 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced (or 2 cans (29 oz) sliced peaches, drained)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
For the Batter:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Peaches
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, mix sliced peaches with sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Let it sit while preparing the batter.
Step 2: Make the Batter
- Pour melted butter into a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Slowly add the milk and stir until smooth.
Step 3: Assemble the Cobbler
- Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter—do not stir!
- Spoon the peaches and their juices on top of the batter—again, do not stir! The batter will rise around the fruit as it bakes.
Step 4: Bake & Serve
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra warmth.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce for a richer flavor.
