Old fashioned momma s meatloaf

Here's the recipe for Old-Fashioned Momma's Meatloaf in large print:

OLD-FASHIONED MOMMA'S MEATLOAF

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork (or 1 lb ground beef if you prefer)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional for sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Mix the Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated (you can use your hands for best results).

  3. Shape the Meatloaf:
Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf shape. If you prefer a crisper exterior, you can shape the meatloaf on a baking sheet instead.

  4. Prepare the Topping:
In a small bowl, mix the ketchup with the brown sugar (if using). Spread the mixture over the top of the meatloaf for a sweet and tangy glaze.

  5. Bake the Meatloaf:
Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the meatloaf is fully cooked.

  6. Rest and Serve:
Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute.

Enjoy your Old-Fashioned Momma's Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and a side of veggies!
