🥩 Meat Filling
1½ lb ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup frozen peas & carrots (or mixed veggies)
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth
1 tbsp flour
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp dried thyme
Salt & black pepper, to taste
1 tbsp oil or butter
Instructions
Heat oil in a skillet and brown the ground beef.
Add onion and cook until soft.
Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
Sprinkle flour, stir well.
Add tomato paste, Worcestershire, broth, and spices.
Simmer 5–10 minutes until thick.
Stir in frozen veggies. Taste and adjust seasoning.
🥔 Mashed Potato Topping
2½ lb potatoes, peeled & cubed
½ cup milk
4 tbsp butter
½–1 cup shredded cheddar (optional)
Salt & pepper
Boil potatoes until tender.
Mash with butter and milk.
Season well and stir in cheese if using.
🧀 Assemble & Bake
Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C.
Spread beef mixture into a baking dish.
Top evenly with mashed potatoes.
Sprinkle a little cheese or dried parsley if you like.
Bake 25–30 minutes, until bubbling.
Broil 2–3 minutes for a golden top.
Tips 🔥
Want it richer? Add a splash of cream to the mash.
Extra flavor? A little gravy instead of broth.
Leftovers are even better the next day.
