Old Time Oven Peach Cobbler

Old-Time Oven Peach Cobbler is a classic, comforting dessert with a buttery, golden crust and sweet, juicy peaches. This recipe is simple, just like grandma used to make!

Ingredients

For the Peaches:

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced (or 2 cans (29 oz) sliced peaches, drained)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

For the Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Peaches

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix sliced peaches with sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Let it sit while preparing the batter.

Step 2: Make the Batter

  1. Pour melted butter into a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Slowly add the milk and stir until smooth.

Step 3: Assemble the Cobbler

  1. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter—do not stir!
  2. Spoon the peaches and their juices on top of the batter—again, do not stir! The batter will rise around the fruit as it bakes.

Step 4: Bake & Serve

  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  2. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra warmth.
  • Drizzle with caramel sauce for a richer flavor.
